Sunday Round Up
U7 Panthers
A tough start to today's game as we went a goal down early on, however, this didn't affect the boys motivation and the score was quickly levelled out by a goal from the Panthers. It was evident the strong passing between the Panther players was a challenge for Littleton Juniors U8 Cyclones, as the Panthers continued to score further goals. Some great goals came from Logan, Jack, Hayden, Cooper and Manny. Fred battled with the opposition across the pitch and made some great assists. Our keeper Fraser kept goals at bay with some fantastic saves and some great goal-keeping decisions, which led to him getting Player of the Match.
U8 Panthers
Great game by the boys today.
We played a strong Salisbury side and it was an even match.
It was end to end with both teams having chances. I thought the boys worked their socks off and made up for the last two game performances. And snatched the winner in the last kick of the game.
David was outstanding in goal with some fingertip saves. James and Oliver defended well with some important tackles. Lucas and Ollie worked hard in midfield with some great link-up with others. Ollie also getting on the scoresheet with an accurate penalty.
Henry was back on form and was the driving force in midfield. Harry worked hard with some great crunching tackles defending from the front. But my man of the match went to the matched winner Jenson, he never stopped running and was a nuisance all over the pitch and bagged himself a hat trick inc that last min winner. Well done Jenson, well done all of you for picking yourselves up and the determination.
U10 Wolves
Jubilant January continued for the Wolves as we tamed the Lions in style today.
This encounter always had the potential to be special with the improving Wolves up against a team who are used to playing at a higher level. But confidence has arrived in bus loads! The Wolves now believe in their ability to win and twice came from behind to earn a deserved result.
The boys were regularly overloading both the midfield and attack with passing options from supporting players. The outstanding Fuku was settling quickly into a new central midfield role using both Finn on the left and Adam on the right to set up the hard working Oakley for good attempts at goal.
This was one of Finn's best performances, not just because of his two goals, but for his creativity in attack and the support he gave to Alfie behind him who in turn would venture forward down the left giving excellent support to Finn. On the right, a similar partnership, with Dash whose work in creating havoc every time he approached the Lions' den was always reinforced by the excellent Harry.
Special mentions also to Rayane who has developed calmness and dependability in defence, Reuben who made some key interceptions outside his area, Dominik who was strong as ever and whose positioning was much improved and Oskar P who is now at the top of his form in both midfield and attack.
A knee injury to Dash suddenly allowed Harry an opportunity in right midfield which he grasped with everything he had. The scores were level, play came over from the left, Harry received the ball centrally, dribbled forward taking the goalkeeper to the right before cleverly sliding the ball back across the goalie into the net. Scenes of joy! A winning goal and a winning performance from our Wolf of the Week, Harry!
U10 Royals
The U10 Royals extended their unbeaten run to 8 consecutive games, winning 7 of the games. After conceding our first goal in 5 games, we bounced back with a great goal by Marcus, sliding in and poking it under the diving goalkeeper. We continued to press the opponents, and prevented them from having many clear cut chances. A spectacular corner taken by Harrison ricocheted off of the far post and then off of a defender to put us infront, followed by another quick goal by Zain sealed the deal, taking us to 3/3 wins in the new league! Player’s POTM went to Marcus for his resilience and got his deserved goal, Managers POTM went to Nate for his constant press, and incredible support play when out of possession, as we worked on in training! U10 Spitfires
A battling performance today saw the U10 Spitfires fight back from 3-1 down to win 4-3. The boys showed character after going 3-1 down, trying to maintain their passing game on a tricky pitch, with goals coming from Bushy x2, Charlie and Freds. There were strong performances from Alfie and Zach, with MoM going to goalkeeper Charlie for important saves from several free kicks.
U12 Panthers
Under 12 panthers played a friendly today away to St Francis Rangers who play in the division above us. We played 11 a side in preparation for moving to this next season.
This was the first time the boys have tried it and we haven't worked on it in training but they played fantastically and came out 2-1 winners, and it could have been more comfortable with a little more composure at the right time.
We took the lead early following a goalmouth scramble and the last touch unfortunately came off a St Francis defender. St Francis pulled a goal back but Jake scored a 2nd for us.
The boys showed real grit and determination to get over the line and Ryan made some fantastic saves in goal. The back 4 in particular all played well as did the rest of the boys.
Many of the Match went to Liam for his fantastic positional play at left back, tucking round when needed and being an outlet to help drive us forward.
Well done boys.
U12 Spitfires
U12 Spitfires had a faultless performance at home to BTC Shark winning 2-0. From the start you could see the boys were up for it and battled hard for every ball and the passing was excellent. The boys dominated the 1st half and got the goal their play deserved when Mikail Field sweetly struck from outside the box into the top corner. 2nd half was played much the same in which we dominated but BTC did create the odd chance which we defended well and looked solid. Our 2nd goal came from out of nothing but full credit to Ethan Cripps for chasing down the ball causing both the defender and keeper to panic leaving an open goal which Ethan finished well with his left foot. Every player has a great game today and POM was shared between 2 players today, firstly Ethan Cripps who chased every ball and got a goal he so deserved and secondly to Mikail Field who was all over the pitch and scored a cracker. So proud of these boys today who worked hard with a depleted squad but all round pleased with what a great team they have become.
U13 Panthers
Southside AFC Youth Wolves 2
AFC Stoneham Panthers 5
One of our best games of the season. Some outstanding performances but more importantly a fantastic team effort. We went 2-0 down within 11 mins from Southside’s first real attack of the game and then a penalty.
We then scored two within 5 mins to bring us back to 2-2 by half-time with goals from Jude and Jack.
We went on to another three in the 2nd half - one from Harry, the other two from Jude for his hat-trick!
What a game!
U14 Panthers
Incredibly proud of the 10 boys who battled to 2-2 draw at home to Blackfield & Langley. Despite being well in the game, we came in for half time at 0-2. The second half the boys dominated the majority and scored through Tomi Mengyi. Shortly afterwards Brandon MCclory found an equaliser to earn a well deserved point.
U14 Wolves
Fantastic away day for the boys today, first half was very close either team could have come in on top but was 0-0. After the break and a few changes boys started to turn through the gears and quickly took a 2 goal lead good strong head from Alfie W from a corner quickly followed by 1st for Jayden. Romsey got themselves back in the game from a corner before a fantastic press from up top saw the ball drop to Max to lob the goalie from 35yrds out, boys continued to press well and some lovely through balls spilt Romsey open and allowed Jayden another 2 to complete his hat trick, boys continued to work hard right up to the final whistle which allowed another late goal from Floyd to seal a great victory for the boys. Full time 6-1
Men of the match went to Jayden and Max.
Great team spirit today and some great football played very worthy winners.
U14 Knights
U14 Knights beat Upper Clatford away 12-0 in the Quarter Final of the Testway League Cup. With 6 goals scored in each half there were Hatricks for Ewan & Ben braces for Elliot, Waseem & Will S.
MOM goes to Ewan for a well earnt hatrick. His movement, timing of runs plus some great finishing was brilliant to watch today. Thoroughly deserved.
U14 Royals
U14 Royals got off to a slow start and found themselves 2-0 down at halftime to 2nd in the league Whiteley. We started the second half with a better work ethic and improved attitude. Goals from Daniel Wrycraft and Ashton Pitter saw us back in the game. We continued to create chances but lost our shape and had tired legs in the closing minutes of the game. A goal 3 minutes from time, saw Whiteley take 3 points. A disappointing result after getting back level.
A great team effort, well done Royals.

U16 Panthers
The U16 Panthers returned to action after a 6-week break, picking up where they left off with a 5-0 romp against Southbrook, but it could have been so different.
After the boys started strongly, having a goal ruled out for offside and missing an array of chances, everybody watched, as on a rare attack, the Southbrook forward rounded Liam Small in goal and seemed guaranteed to simply stroke the ball home. However, he hadn’t accounted for Adam Lee, who appeared from nowhere with a phenomenal block; a match saving block, keeping the scores level. Such moments define games and seasons and truth be known, there was only one result from that point onwards.
Positive, free flowing football ensued, and once Sam Holder opened the scoring with a clever back heeled finish, the goals flowed and the eventual score line could have been double what it was. Goals followed from Dylan Cross, Billy Tierling, Jude Cowan and Luke Collins Smith, but just as notable was the effort, attitude and style of play that the whole squad showed until the final whistle. Not the first time that’s been said.
Man of the match could have been awarded to an array of players, but deservedly went to Adam Lee for THAT block.
Well done to all of our youth teams today.
